Emir of Gaya Emirate in Kano is dead

The death has been announced of the Emir of Gaya Emirate in Kano State, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Abdulkadir.

The report of the traditional ruler’s demise was made public on Wednesday, 22nd September in a Facebook post by the SSA on New Media to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, Abubakar Aminu Ibrahim.

 

Born in 1930, the 91-years-old Emir was enthroned in 1990 and had been on the throne for over 30 years.

The late Emir was previously the district head of Kunchi and then Minjibir, but in May 2019, he was elevated by the Kano State government to the rank of an Emir and oversaw the affairs of Gaya Emirate.

Meanwhile, a woman allegedly specialising in fraudulent activities in Kano State, Fati Umar Dikko, has been arrested.

The suspect fell into police net following several complaints at the state police command by her victims, Naija News understands.

Dikko according to reports has defrauded many unsuspecting traders with fake bank SMS alerts after collecting their goods

Speaking on her arrest, Spokesperson of the command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in a statement on Tuesday, said;

“On the 12/09/2021 at about 1830hrs, complaints were lodged by one Jamilu Musa, ‘m’, Aliyu Inusa, ‘m’, and Sadiya Muhammad, ‘f’, all of the different addresses within Kano metropolis, that, between 11/09/2021 and 14/09/2021, one Fati Umar Dikko, ‘f’, of Rijiyar Zaki Quarters, Gwale LGA Kano, went to their shops located at various addresses in Kano and on different occasions, make some purchases.”

Dikko is said to have made the following purchases; four pieces of wrappers valued at fifty-seven thousand Naira (N57,000.00) three pieces of Lace materials, one handbag valued at ninety thousand Naira (N90,000.00), and six pieces of wrappers valued at fifty-one thousand four hundred Naira (N51,400.00); respectively.

Kiyawa revealed further that Dikko on all three occasions made fake credit alerts and left with the items.
