Following the sad news of Ginsburg’s passing, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, has released a statement of condolence via her representatives. Duchess Meghan said,

“With an incomparable and indelible legacy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg will forever be known as a woman of brilliance, a Justice of courage, and a human of deep conviction. She has been a true inspiration to me since I was a girl. Honour her, remember her, act for her.”

Meghan’s statement honoring the late Justice comes as people around the world pay tribute to Ginsburg and her legacy. Per NPR, Chief Justice John Roberts said of Ginsburg’s death, “Our nation has lost a justice of historic stature… We at the Supreme Court have lost a cherished colleague. Today we mourn but with confidence that future generations will remember Ruth Bader Ginsburg as we knew her, a tireless and resolute champion of justice.”

NPR also reported that, just days before her death, Ginsburg told her granddaughter, Clara Spera,

“My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”
