Barcelona president Joan Laporta has declared that Ronald Koeman will remain in charge of the club for the 2021-22 season, after the Dutchman was given a reprieve following a disappointing debut season.
Following their humiliating 8-2 defeat by Bayern Munich in the Champions League last summer, Koeman took over from Quique Setien and was tasked with winning both LaLiga and the Champions League.
This season, though, Barcelona was beaten to the Spanish crown by Atletico Madrid and crashed out of Europe in the last-16.
Koeman, on the other hand, won the Copa del Rey.
Barca president Laporta stated on Thursday, June 3, that Koeman would remain in his position following a meeting with the club’s board of directors.
