The online hacking network known as “Anonymous” has once again claimed responsibility for shutting down the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)’s website.
The group before the attack issued a notice to EFCC via its Twitter handle informing them of the intending attack. They tweeted;Greetings @officialEFCC , we are #Anonymous! You have made yourselves an target of Anonymous, we will begin shutting down your websites and accounts tomorrow probably. #Anonymous #OpNigeria #EndSARS #EndSARSNow #ENDSARSOPPRESSION
An hour later, the group announced that they have take down the EFCC website and tweeted;#Anonymous #OpNigeria #EndSARS #EndSARSNow #ENDSARSOPPRESSION Official website of @officialEFCC has been taken down insupport of #EndSARSProtest. CHECK HOST : https://check-host.net/check-report/df89d3bk838 TARGET : https://efccnigeria.org/efcc/ You should have expected us! #EndCorruptionInNigeria
Sociend Media can confirm that as at the time of this post, the website of the EFCC is still down.
This comes after the same Anonymous group hacked the website of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Friday threatening to reveal the government’s secrets.
The online network has declared its support for the #EndSARS #EndSWAT protest going on in Nigeria right now, telling the government to respond to the needs of its citizens.
The EFCC has so far not issued a statement about this claims.
