Adamawa residents wake to find heaps of refuse dumped in a residential area in Yola South.
Residents of a community in Yola South have called on the state government to act after they woke to find heaps of refuse dumped in their neighbourhood.
A resident, Fatimoh Calejaiye, who shared photos and videos on Facebook, said she called the Yola South Councilor to complain about it but she claimed he told her he didn’t give the order for the refuse to be dumped there, then asked her to take it up with the chairman of the local government.
She wrote:What is the Government of Adamawa state becoming? The neighborhood woke up on Tuesday to this heap of rubbish in front of their houses. What inhumanity is this?
I called the Councilor for Yola South, but received no explanation. Even at the best of times – let alone in the midst of a COVID-19 pandemic – how can this filthy act be justified?
This is my home.
The councilor said he didn’t give the order for the refuse to be dumped here – right on our doorsteps . He said I should take the matter up with the chairman of the local government.
We demand that this rubbish is removed immediately.
